At the tip of the iceberg; The murky world of Internet Marketing

Having recently attended an Internet Marketing course, I understand a blog is one way to improve your website rankings. Not completely sure why yet but here begins 'my ranking journey'. It could turn out quite interesting, perhaps even helpful to others, (depends how well I do!)

The course was run by Peter Graves of Channel Computing and Mike Kevern of MK Consultancy. Mike looked quite familiar and it turned out we went to school together all those years ago .... but I won't go into that, Mike may never forgive me!!

The day can only be described as intensive. Cram-packed and overload are two other words that spring to mind. I'm obviously not used to having to concentrate quite that much in a single day! It did however, give me a very good overview of the task ahead and a basic understanding of the many components involved in getting your website found! And I'm pleased to report there were some areas of relief, like when ex-student & success story, Roger, a really nice bloke from the 12 Volt shop, gave us 5 top tips and a number of even better top-tangents! Then there was a bit towards the end, where Pete very seriously spoke about blogging your blog, tweeting twitters, and making sure you digg it! Actually I can't quite remember what he said, but it rolled off his tongue very quickly, and was very funny, especially to a by-then fatigued mind, like mine. Consequently I very nearly lost it and Charlotte behind me, really didn't help! Uncontrollable fits of giggles were sooo close and I couldn't look Pete in the eye for some time after.

Folllet & Stock solicitor's were kind enough to provide the room, along with some sobering legal advice from Penny Paddle (great name!). And all this came at no cost, thanks to The Digital Peninsula Network which provided 100% funding for me and the 16 other budding internet entrepreneurs. It also turned out I went to school with Anita from DPN. What a small Cornwall!

So, to sum up; A great informative day, well worth attending. Pete & Mike were superb hosts (sorry about all my questions!) - and we were looked after with a nice lunch, lots of tea & coffee, and most importantly platefuls of chocolate biscuits. Looking forward to the notes being emailed soon, so I can begin this feat of being found....Step 1 of 11 coming soon!

Current rank for Quiz Express; Very poor, rank in fact.
